FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has sought the partnership of the members of the Alumni Association of National Institute in the search for solutions to the numerous challenges confronting public organizations in the country.
Malam Musa Bello made this appeal when he received the members of the above Association, led by its Chairman – Mallam Bolaji Kaleel, when they paid him a courtesy call in his office on Tuesday, 18 July 2017.
Addressing the delegation, the FCT Minister described the association as a veritable organization whose experience the government can leverage in the search for solutions to public policy issues in the country.
Malam Bello outlined some of the challenges confronting the FCT Administration to include vandalism of public assets, residents’ attitude to environmental sanitation and traffic indiscipline.
Recalling a recent arrest of men who were caught digging out and cutting railway cables and other components of the light rail project for sell in the market, the Minister lamented the way valuable public utilities and infrastructure components are pillaged by hoodlums, taken to the markets in the full glare of the people and who in turn buy these items.
He stressed, “we would move faster if we leverage the experience of members of your alumni association so that time is not wasted trying to re-invent the wheel. I believe that the Association, as it grows in the coming years, is an organization we should all tap into and get the benefit of the experience of its members.”
Earlier in his address, the president of the Association commended the Minister for his policy thrust of completing ongoing projects making direct reference to the Abuja Light Rail Project, the Outer Northern Express Way, Inner Southern Express Way and others which, he noted, would greatly improve the traffic situation and general living in the city.
Mallam Kaleel pledged the partnership of the members of the association in proffering solutions to public policy in the management of the city, pointing out that the Association is populated by people who have had impressive careers in all fields of life and who could be relied upon for assistance even now they are out of public service.
