FCTA CARES: ACHIEVING SUSTAINED WATER SUPPLY DESPITE FUNDING CHALLENGES

1. Contractors have returned to various water projects following the payment of outstanding liabilities resulting in high hopes for significant expansion in current urban water coverage.
2. Administration is also shopping for a $450Million from the Chinese NEXIM Bank to extend water supply to hitherto unreached loops like Lugbe and areas beyond.
2. Quality control and safety assurance that conforms with WHO and national standards of PH6.8 – 8.5 thus making FCT water one of the best in the country.
3. Realized over N1.5 Billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in 2016 alone.
4. Introduction of payment metering system which has stemmed revenue leakage.
5. Completion of 1.2MW solar power project in collaboration with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) following payment of long delayed counterpart funds, which has reduced the cost of energy in powering the treatments plants.
6. Paid the sum of N46.5million as counterpart fund to Japenese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for improvements on our water supply.
7. Completion of 1st phase of Non-Revenue Water (NRW) in collaboration with JICA to project aimed at ensuring proper tracking and detection of illegal connections and training of 120 staff in Japan, bestowing on FCT the best crop of Water Board human resources across the country.
8. Drilling boreholes to service communities not covered by the public water pipeline networks with potable drinking water.
